Montreal, Canada Knitting and Food Tour - August 1 - 5, 2025

We will explore old Montreal, with sightseeing, shopping, knitting, and more. Montreal is the largest city in the Quebec province, with its cobblestone streets in Old Montreal and historic architecture. Known for amazing food and culture, Montreal is like stepping into France without crossing the Atlantic. We will visit the iconic Notre Dame Basilica, take in some art at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, explore a culinary adventure taking a Montreal food walking tour, and visit Maisonneuve Market for a French shopping experience. Montreal has incredible yarn stores that we will visit. Knitting classes will consist of creating knitwear inspired by our travels, all levels of knitting can be accommodated. Hotel (4 nights), admissions, knitting classes, 7 meals included.

Tour Guides

Lynn Ruggieri is a dual citizen of Italy and the U.S. and splits her time between the two countries, residing in Perugia for the last 10 years. Lynn is a knitter and tour organizer.

Marny Kindness is a knitter, knitwear designer and instructor who loves to travel and create knitwear inspired by other countries. Marny is the knitting instructor and tour organizer.

Knitting classes

Join Marny Kindness (knitter, instructor, knitwear designer) for knitting classes. All knitters should have a basic understanding of knitting. Class will be modified to accommodate all levels of knitting. We will create something beautiful inspired by your travels.

Friday, August 1

Travel day. Arrive in Montreal. After getting settled, we will have a welcome happy hour, followed by dinner and knitting. Meals included: Dinner

Saturday, August 2

There are so many knitting shops in the Montreal area. We will visit several, and have time for knitting instruction and knitting social. We will explore Old Montreal, a section of Montreal near where we are staying for sightseeing and shopping. We will visit Notre Dame Basilica, a Catholic Church known for its Gothic Revival style architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Sunday, August 3

More yarn store visits and knitting. After lunch we will head out for an art afternoon. Montreal Museum of Fine Arts has the largest gallery spaces in Canada. Showcasing Quebec and Canadian artists, MMFA also has Indigenous art, paintings, sculptures, graphics, photography, multimedia and decorative arts from ancient times to today. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Monday, August 4

After a morning knitting class, we will go on a food walking tour, followed by shopping and sightseeing. Montreal is one of Canada’s most exciting foodie destinations. We will go on a Montreal walking food tour to experience local and European-inspired foods, including sweets and poutine. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch (food walking tour)

Tuesday, August 5

For our last day in Montreal we will shop like the locals. Maisonneuve Market is a public market in Montreal seated in a historic building. The market features flowers, cheeses, French cuisine, baked goods and local artisan products. We will have lunch and shop, with some knitting time. We may squeeze in one more yarn store before we depart Montreal. Meals included: Breakfast
