Gubbio is located on the lowest slope of Mt. Ingino, a small mountain of the Apennines. Gubbio is home to the world’s largest illuminated Christmas lights which are in the shape of a giant Christmas tree on the side of a mountain. It has the second largest surviving Roman theatre in the world. For those that dare there is a cable car that ascends up the mountain that offers spectacular views. At the top of the mountain is the Basilica of Sant’Ubaldo with a stunning marble alter and enormous stained glass windows depicting the life of the saint. Gubbio is also known for its exquisite ceramics, quaint shops and beautiful views. Meals included - breakfast, dinner
Lynn Ruggieri is a dual citizen of Italy and the U.S. and splits her time between the two countries, residing in Perugia for the last 10 years. She will show you the medieval towns and amazing landscapes that are not the usual tourist destinations. She will share with you Italy from the perspective of a native and you will discover the treasures of the country she calls home. Her passion and enthusiasm will make for an unforgettable experience.
Join Marny Kindness (knitter, instructor, knitwear designer) for knitting classes throughout the tour of Italy. We will learn new skills and create knitwear that is inspired by our Italian travels. All knitters should have a basic understanding of knitting.
